The two major indicators of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), the All Share Index and market capitalisation, moved slightly up on Wednesday when they both increased by 0.04 per cent each.
Market capitalisation appreciated by N4.602 billion to close at N10.215 trillion as against N10.210 trillion recorded on Tuesday, while the All Share Index rose by 13.8 basis points or 0.04 per cent to close at 30,614.93 points as against 30,601.13 points recorded in the previous trading day.
Meanwhile, total volume traded went down from 510.059 million shares valued at N4.910 billion in 5,324 transactions recorded on Tuesday to 381.290 million shares valued at N4.906 billion in 5,283 transactions, with the financial services sector accounting for a total of 331.212 million shares valued at N3.210 billion in 3,532 transactions as against 431.520 million shares valued at N3.013 billion in 3,495 transactions recorded on Tuesday.
However, investors also bought and sold a total of 217.980 million shares valued at N2.626 billion belonging to the banking sub-sector in 2,576 transactions as against 279.172 million shares valued at N1.970 billion in 2,467 transactions recorded the previous trading day.
At the close of trading activities on Wednesday, 26 companies made it to the gainers’ table as against 34 on Tuesday, while 22 were on the laggards’ table compared with 11 on Tuesday.
