The Niger Delta Peoples Confederation (NDPC) has urged leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, not to see the victory of Mohammadu Buhari as a conspiracy against the Niger Delta people but a wish of all Nigerians.
Coordinator-General of the NDPC, Iyamu Osaro Culture, in a press statementIt in Benin said the Niger Delta people were looking forward to joining Buhari to develop the Niger Delta region.
The group reminded Dokubo that the Hausa and Yoruba voted enmasse for President Jonathan in 2011, pointing out that the people would also change the Buhari government through the ballot box if he fails to meet the expectations of the region.
Expectations of the Niger Delta people, according to Iyamu, are rapid development of the region, youth empowerment and proper allocations of oil blocks.
According to him, “We want to appeal to Mr. Dokubo to kindly give peace a chance as we look forward to joining the incoming President to transform our region and Nigeria at large which is not negotiable.
“Let no person see the emergence of General Buhari as conspiracy against the Niger Delta people but as Nigerians wish”, the group declared.
