Proprietor of Ifeanyi Ubah United FC and owner of Capital Oil PLC Ifeanyi Ubah has said that he took over sponsorship of former Gabros United FC as part of strategic plan to grow his business and at the same time help youths in the country and beyond showcase their talent.
Ubah said in Abuja that his organisation and management of former Gabros United Fc saw the need to take over the club, and assured the new outfit will not the way of previous privately owned clubs like Jasper United, Udorji United and Gabros.
Whereas Anambra State has grown a number of clubs, like Rangers and produced a number of great players, he noted that successive governments have not raised state owned clubs.
The oil magnate also observed rather sadly that private individuals have laboured to put the state on the country’s football map only for such effort to go down the drain.
“It’s sad that over time we have clubs like Jasper United, Udorji United and now Gabros come and fiddle out. I want to make a mark, I want to prove that we can do it and use the club as a point of contact to grow football and sports in the country and bring joy to teeming football fans in Anambra State” he promised.
