The Elder Council of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have dissociated themselves from the election in the National Assembly which produced Hon. Sulaiman Lasun Yusuf as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives describing his emergence as admixture of personal interest and vaulting ambition detrimental to the progress and stability of the party.
The caucus rising from a crucial meeting held on Wednesday, 17 June 2015 at the party secretariat in Osogbo said that the political drama with the accompanying intrigues that characterised the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly and emmergence of Hon. Lasun Yusuf as Deputy Speaker is not only despicable act of betrayal and disloyalty to the party but also a breach and negation of the party’s directive.
The elder caucus in a communique issued and signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Prince Felix Awofisayo and Barrister Gbadegesin Adedeji respectively, copy of which was made available to Daily Independent in Osogbo said that action of Hon.
Lasun Yusuf accepting the position was condemnable and anti-party tendency.
The group further noted that the action has disrespected the party leadership adding that such action, if allowed to remain, is capable of promoting indiscipline and elevating treachery and rebellion to an art.
