Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Jide Jimoh, has advised those allegedly pointing fingers at the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to stop doing so.
Jimoh, who was reacting to the crisis rocking the National Assembly, maintained that Tinubu should not be blamed for the current happenings in the upper and lower chambers of the National Assembly.
The lawmaker, who represents Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency, stressed that the APC leader had never in anyway dictated to the party, and “whoever, amongst the party members, is accusing him (Tinubu) of dictating to the party, is an ingrate.”
He continued: “We all know that Asiwaju Tinubu is the brain behind the formation of the APC; this man worked with others for the party to stand and succeed in the last general elections, so nobody should ridicule him.
“Whoever says that Tinubu is dictating to the party is an ingrate. Such a person needs to fear God. Nobody has the right to accuse him of any wrong doing at all,” he said.
As regards the leadership tussle in the National Assembly, Jimoh said: “The position of the party is supreme despite personal ambition from various caucuses.
“The Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the Federal House of Reps, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, should apologise to the party and all the party leaders for going against the position of the party.
“What we are experiencing in the National Assembly is a kind of misunderstanding amongst the lawmakers on the leadership positions in the two chambers.
“We have over 200 APC members in the House of Reps, if we don’t agree to follow the party’s position on the House leadership, we should go back to the floor of the House and vote for those who would occupy the other offices.
“I stand on the party’s position on the principal offices of the two chambers because we were all elected on the platform of the party. Therefore, we should all respect its decision at any point in time.
“Though President Muhammadu Buhari has taken his position on the matter, what is on ground now is for all groups to comply with the position of the leaders of the party. I believe that the matter would be resolved in few days time.”
