Gov Lalong Gives Plateau ‘Looters’ Ultimatum

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau state on Tuesday announced at Government House, Jos,  that those who soiled their hands in the state treasury under the immediate past government of Senator Jonah Jang has been given two weeks to refund the money taken illegally or be made to face EFCC probe.

Lalong who stated this after receiving the report of the transition committee he set up under his Deputy Governor, Professor Tyoden, who submitted the report to him at new Government House, said his government was not out to witch-hunt anybody, but insisted that what should be done right should rightly be done.

According to Governor Lalong, “EFCC Men are already in the state carrying out some investigations on some past misdeeds in the state; those who looted the treasury under the last administration should quietly return whatever they had taken away from the state accounts.

Ealier, the Deputy Governor, Professor Tyoden, told the Governor Lalong and the guests that  between 2007 and 2015, under senator Jang’s administration, the sum of N525.35 billion came into the state treasury, statutory allocation inclusive, but regretted that the  state was left with N222.3 billion by May 2015.
