Enugu Rangers International Football Club will play Lobi Stars of Makurdi in one of the 2015 Federation Cup semi -final matches at the Karkanda Stadium in Katsina.
The second semi -final between Akwa United of Uyo and Nasarawa United of Lafia will hold today at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.
The brand –new Karkanda Stadium, hosting Rangers/Lobi was commissioned a couple of months ago with a match involving the Super Eagles B and a Katsina Selected Side.
The Cup excitement seemed to be at the Katsina centre following the pedigree of both teams in the competition where Rangers is five–time champions and Lobi Stars of Makurdi a one-time champion.
Thus, the two teams (Rangers and Lobi) are the former winners of the Federation Cup left in this year’s race and one of them at the end of today will reach the final again.
In Abeokuta, the two teams, Akwa United and Nasarawa United are yet to win the trophy since its inception.
However, to get to this stage Rangers hammered El Kanemi 3-1 in Abuja, while Lobi beat BJ Foundation of Benin City 2-1 in Lokoja.
Akwa survived Niger Tornadoes Feeders on penalties after a 2-2 draw , while Nasarawa sailed over FC IfeanyiUbah by a lone goal.
Meanwhile, in the women Federation Cup semi final matches, Kogi Confluence Queens which sent out Cup holders, Rivers Angels, in the quarter- finals will play Bayelsa Queens at the Oleh Township Stadium.
At the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu Nasarawa Amazons, which defeated Osun Babes, will lock horns with Sunshine Queens of Akure which eliminated FC Robo of Lagos.
