NSE Index sheds 0.27% as Guinness leads losers

After a two-day rebound on Thursday and Friday last week, indicators of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) opened the week on a depressed note on Monday when market indicators depreciating.

Equities capitalisation fell by N31.878 billion to close at N11.494 trillion from N11.526 trillion it recorded at the weekend; while the All-Share Index lost 100.08 basis points or 0.27 per cent to close at 36,088.64 points.

A total of 27 stocks suffered declines, led by Guinness Nigeria which lost 299 kobo; followed by Lafarge Cement WAPCO’s 200 kobo; while Oando closed 70 kobo down; ahead of Jos Breweries’ 66 kobo dip; while Nigerian Aviation Handling Company suffered a 30 kobo loss.

On the other hand, Total Nigeria led 26 gainers, chalking N14.65; followed from afar by Portland Paints and Products which grabbed 37 kobo; Dangote Sugar Refinery recovered 25 kobo; Academy Press notched 17 kobo; while Ecobank Transnational Incorporated chalked 14 kobo.
